  • How do I schedule therapy or assessment services?
Provide your name, contact information, and the services you are interested in below under Contact Us or at info@parentingwc.com. We will contact you to schedule a brief consultation to discuss your concerns and reason for seeking services, as well as review questions you may have about our services and next steps.
  • What would not make me a good fit for services at Parenting While Committed?
If there is active alcohol and/or drug addiction on the part of any family member If there is serious violence in the relationship, threats by one or more family members that serious violence might occur, or fear of such serious violence on the part of any family member If either partner currently has an untreated major mental illness (schizophrenia, recurrent psychotic depression, or bipolar/manic-depressive illness.) This does not include past successfully treated psychotic episodes (e.g. post-partum depression with psychosis). For couple’s therapy, if there is an undisclosed, current affair that you are not willing to disclose (such secrets predict marital therapy failure) If either partner is currently experiencing suicidal or homicidal thoughts, or has a history of serious harm inflicted on him/herself or another person
  • What makes assessment important?
Assessment is an intervention- it can be as effective as 6 to 9 months of therapy.
  • I am currently participating in therapy services. Will this program interfere?
The Collaboratives and assessment services offered are designed to stand alone or to supplement therapy services and you will be provided with materials to take home and reflect on with your therapist.
  • Do you accept insurance?
Parenting While Committed is an out of network provider, which means that the individual, couples, and families are responsible for payment. If requested, Parenting While Committed will offer paperwork explaining services that can be submitted to insurance to request reimbursement of a portion of the service fee.
  • Are the collaboratives therapy?
This program is not therapy. It is a self-reflection workshop for you and your partner.
  • Am I supposed to start with the collaboratives?
Each family can choose the most appropriate services for their needs and any of the offered services can be chosen. Each program is meant to stand alone or to augment each other.
  • Do you perform diagnostic or learning assessments for my child?
At Parenting While Committed, our assessment focus is directed at supporting the couple and family system to explore relational dynamics and the emotional wellbeing of the individuals and their relationships. We can provide referrals for individual evaluations for your child to assess for learning differences or specific emotional or behavioral diagnoses.
